There is no account, so we cannot see your games or look you up. Tell us what happened, your iPhone or iPad model, the iOS version and the app version (Settings → About → Version). For a question about a purchase, add the order number from your Apple receipt. Never send a password or card details.
How a game works with one phone
One phone or iPad stays in the middle of the table. Moonhost is the game master, so nobody has to sit out and run the game.
- Tap New game, add everyone at the table in seating order (4 to 24 players), then tap Choose roles. Pick Werewolf or Mafia; Moonhost suggests roles for your group size, and you can change them.
- Tap Deal the roles. Pass the phone round: each player touches and holds Hold to see your role, looks, lets go, then taps Got it, pass the phone on.
- Put the phone in the middle of the table and tap Sound check to hear the volume. Then tap Begin the night.
- The narrator tells everyone to close their eyes, then wakes each role in turn. When it is your turn you choose a player by touching and holding a name, and put the phone back. The narrator puts you back to sleep.
- At dawn the narrator announces what happened in the night. Then the table talks while the timer runs. When it is time, tap Go to the vote; the host taps the player the table sends away.
- Night and day alternate until one side wins. The recap shows how it went and who was who.
On the home screen, Same players as last time starts the next evening with the same table in one tap.
Which rules does Moonhost use?
The classic rules of Werewolf and of Mafia. In Werewolf the free roles are Villager, Werewolf, Seer, Healer, Hunter and Witch; in Mafia, Civilian, Mafia, Don, Detective and Doctor. The Pass adds Bodyguard, Elder, Jester, Maniac and Courtesan. Each role’s ability is shown in the app, and a few house rules (for example whether the Healer may protect themselves) can be set in Settings → House rules.
No sound, or too quiet
- Turn the volume up with the buttons on the side of the device. Moonhost plays through the silent switch, but it does not change your volume.
- Before the first night, tap Sound check on the screen that asks you to put the phone in the middle of the table. The narrator says a line so the whole table can judge the volume.
- Check that the device is not connected to headphones or a Bluetooth speaker you forgot about.
- The background sounds have their own slider: Settings → Narrator → Ambience volume. You can also turn on Show the narrator’s lines on screen.
- If the narration stops after a call or an alarm took the audio, tap Repeat that to hear the last line again, or Pause and then Resume.
Change the narrator’s language and voice
Open Settings (the gear at the top right of the home screen).
- Language → App language changes the menus. Narration language changes the language the narrator speaks and the role cards are written in. By default it is the same as the app. Moonhost speaks English, German, French, Ukrainian, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Turkish.
- Narrator’s voice lists the narrators available in the narration language. Tap the play button to hear one before you choose it. A game keeps the voice it started with. This section appears only when there is more than one narrator in that language. The standard narrator is free; the others are part of the Moonhost Pass.
- Narrator sets the voice speed, the pause between lines, the captions and the ambience volume.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The game needs no internet connection: the narrator’s recordings are inside the app. Only checking or restoring a purchase needs a connection.
What is free, and what does the Pass add?
Free: classic Werewolf and Mafia with their standard roles, the standard narrator voice, and 4 to 24 players. The Moonhost Pass adds the extra roles (Bodyguard, Elder, Jester, Maniac and Courtesan) and extra narrator voices.
The Pass is sold as a weekly subscription (US $3.99), a yearly subscription (US $19.99) or a one-time lifetime purchase (US $29.99). Prices vary by country and are shown in the app before you buy. The full terms are in the Terms of Use.
Free in Ukraine
Moonhost is completely free in Ukraine and when played in Ukrainian. If your App Store country is Ukraine, or the narration language is Ukrainian, every role and voice is unlocked, no purchase is ever offered, and there are no ads anywhere in the app.
Restore purchases
Open Settings, go to the Moonhost Pass section and tap Restore purchases. The same button is at the bottom of the screen that shows the Pass. Use the Apple Account you bought with. If a purchase is waiting for approval (Ask to Buy), the Pass unlocks by itself once it is approved. If nothing is found, check that you are signed in with the right Apple Account and have a connection, then write to us.
Cancel a subscription
Only the weekly and yearly Pass renew. A subscription renews unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions → Moonhost → Cancel Subscription. On older versions of iOS, tap your name at the top of Settings.
You keep the Pass until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. The lifetime purchase is paid once and has nothing to cancel.
Ask Apple for a refund
Apple handles every payment and every refund. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with the Apple Account you bought with, choose the Moonhost purchase and ask for a refund. Apple makes the decision; we cannot refund a purchase ourselves, but write to us if something went wrong and we will help.
Is my data collected?
No. There is no account, no ads and no tracking. The names you type and your settings stay on your device. The only thing that leaves the device is the check of a Moonhost Pass purchase, which RevenueCat handles with an anonymous ID. The Privacy Policy has the details.
